The Mellenthiner Os nature reserve is a 65 hectare nature reserve in the Usedom Island Nature Park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is located northeast of the city of Usedom, north of Mellenthin and was expelled on August 15, 1995. The state of the area is assessed as good. The protected area can be viewed from several hiking trails that lead to the Schwedenschanze, a former Slavic hilltop castle in the middle of the NSG.
The NSG Mellenthiner Os is listed as a geotope with the number G2_208. It is 5.4 km long from Mellenthin over the Balm to the Cosim peninsula and the branch to the northwest with a length of 1.8 km. The maximum width is 450 m.
Plant and animal world: Particularly noteworthy plant species are the gale shrub, shadow flower and swamp hairline as well as the swamp blood eye. Breeding birds in the area include the goshawk, red kite, stock dove, middle woodpecker, red-backed bird, miniature flycatcher, sand martin and crane.
