Here in Bergedorf, there is still an old station building from 1842.

It is the former ticket and guard house of the "Hamburg-Bergedorf Railway," which began operating in 1842. The station building, built in 1842, was, like all railway buildings along the line, designed by Alexis de Chateauneuf.

It is therefore one of the oldest surviving station buildings in Germany.

From 1846, the railway line planned by William Lindley in 1838, slightly deviated from the line, and continued via Bergedorf's second station on the border with Lohbrügge,

via Friedrichsruh - Schwarzenbek - Boizenburg to Berlin.

In 1990-92, the dilapidated station building was extensively restored by the "Work and Learning" association and refurbished to mark the railway's 150th anniversary. Since 1992, the Bergedorf District Landowners' Association has been based in the "Old Train Station." Tours are possible, and an information leaflet on the station's history is available.

The Lohbrügger Bürgerbühne theater workshop is located in the adjacent building.

The connection to Bergedorf-Lohbrügge and the Vier- and Marschlanden areas is documented by a small permanent exhibition of Wolfgang Götze drawings.

He captured the district in countless ballpoint pen drawings between 1960 and 1980.

The "collotypes" on display provide a good impression of his work.

The first railway from Hamburg was planned to Bergedorf and completed in 1842. This old train station is still left.

The Old Train Station in Hamburg-Bergedorf of the Hamburg-Bergedorf Railway is the second oldest preserved station building in Germany. It was built in 1842 according to a design by Alexis de Chateauneuf. The railway line to Hamburg was planned in 1838 by William Lindley and put into operation on May 7, 1842.

The station building is no longer on a railway line today. For the extension of the Bergedorf railway to Berlin, which was opened on December 15, 1846, a route northwest of Bergedorf town center was chosen and a new railway station was built there. The old station Bergedorf lost thereby its function.

After its renovation in the years 1990 to 1992, the reception building today serves as a venue for club activities and as a district office of home and land. The area of the platforms is now a lawn, next to a goods shed is obtained.

The station is located south of Bergedorf city center on the street Neuer Weg. Later on, at about 150 meters, the Bergedorf Süd station of the Bergedorf-Geesthachter railway was built, which was opened in 1906.
