          The church is dedicated to Saint Jacques.

          The church (12th to 16th centuries) is of Flamboyant and Renaissance styles: begun in the 12th century, the Church of Saint-Jacques was erected as a parish in 1282 by Guillaume de Flavacourt, Archbishop of Rouen. The north and south transepts date back to the second half of the 12th century. The choir, the nave, and the aisles date from the 13th century, except for the vaults and the triforium of the nave, which dates from the 14th century. It was also in the 14th century that the great portal was built. In the 15th century, the tower and the chapels located on either side of the great nave of the choir were erected, except for two of them which were part of the original plan of the church1. Inside, the Treasury chapel is decorated with a frieze known as “the savages” which reveals the various nations discovered by navigators and sailors from Dieppe. At the request of Jehan Ango, patron of the church in the 16th century, the artist represented various scenes from the life of the natives: a procession of festivals and dances, warlike episodes, which many archaeologists and scholars came to observe . Victor Hugo also came to see these real stone laces on September 8, 18371.

          The building is classified as a historic monument by the list of 18402.

          Lucien Lefort, departmental architect, intervened for a restoration operation (before 1916).

          In January 2015, following the collapse of the structure of the dome, the campanile was removed for restoration3,4.

          On the night of November 6 to 7, 2017, eight canvases were stolen. These were due to Anselma, Jean-Guillaume Drouet, Auguste Jugelet, Lebaron and Armand Mélicourt-Lefebvre.
