Unfortunately, you can no longer get to the Bergerie, because a bridge collapsed in 2024. You will be taken by bus from 2 May 6 to 6 km before the Bergerie. Cars must park 10 km below the Bergerie

The Tighjettu refuge is the 4th refuge of the GR 20, leaving the cirque de la solitude by the Col Perdu. It has a capacity of 48 beds, but don't be fooled. Remember to book your bed well in advance. Small bonus, you will have the possibility of swimming in the river below.

La Bergerie de Ballone offers wonderful family cuisine with artisanal charcuterie and sheep's cheese. It is also possible to order refreshments there. Please note that the refuge offers tent pitches (and tent rental) but you will not find a hard bed under a roof.

The tour is no longer possible after severe flooding and landslides in November 2023. You can no longer get any further by car after the Tuani campsite. Instead, shuttle buses drive to a point (A Frasetta) just before the collapsed bridge; further on, you can only get there on foot, as large parts of the road have been washed away. There is a well-marked hiking trail to the Bergerie du Melo, which takes about 2 hours. The Bergerie du Melo is open, from here you can continue to the mountain lakes, but you have to allow 3.5-4 hours more walking time.

Located at the pass of the same name and close to the road, the Vergio hotel and the small grocery store allow you to recharge your batteries before continuing on the GR 20. A refuge with 70 beds is also located a few steps from the hotel.

Open only in summer, this charming sheepfold is located not far from that of Grotelle, in the Restonica valley. Authentic and friendly, it is faithful to Corsican culture.

I initially tried staying at Refuge Tighiettu but they told me there were no more spare tents for hire so walked to Bergerie de Ballone instead and I'm so glad I did! I hired a tent and it came with an actual mini mattress and I slept really well. I had the best dinner on the trail and the staff were super super friendly. Also, HOT SHOWER! Great experience overall.

Pretty hut, funny shape, nice atmosphere, small shop, cooking facilities in the shade under the hut ... are among the pluses; the toilets definitely among the minuses; However, the question of the reasonableness of the prices in the huts in general? Questionable. But we had fleas and bedbugs in the bed camp, but we didn't know that until the next day... At least the staff reacted and destroyed the vermin (the sleeping area was sprayed). Even if with one: That wouldn't be so bad, all those stitches...
