The source is a few meters further down the slope than stated. Spring catchment with a door that you can open and draw water from, very clean. A cup hangs next to it. The path from the signpost on the ridge is quite overgrown. The table-bench combination next door that is visible in some pictures probably no longer exists.

The catchment area is almost the entire Thuringian basin with a part of the western and northern border plates, parts of the southern Harz and smaller parts of the northern Thuringian forest. The rivers, which are richer in water, and the Unstrut itself arise in the outlying mountains, which are more rainy than the basin.
