The Roland on the market square of Bad Bramstedt looks a little sadly around. He would have every reason to look happy and proud. After all, "his" Bad Bramstedt is a handsome small town, known and loved as a health resort for a long time. He is also said to be the northernmost Roland in Germany. He also looks back on a long and glorious past. From 1533 onwards, Bramstedter Rolande, initially wooden, are proven. The stone Roland has stood here since 1693, made of Oberkirchen sandstone and occasionally renovated - in the years 1748, 1827, 1895 and 1965. Under the sign of Roland, important markets were held, contracts were confirmed and disputes were settled. Even merchants from Brabant used to trade here. Above all, however, cattle dealers went about their business. The famous historical ox trail of Jutland led through Bad Bramstedt.
