🦌 What is Eekholt Wildlife Park? • The park is located in Großenaspe near Bad Bramstedt and was founded in 1970. • Over 700 animals live in natural enclosures on approximately 67 hectares – including wolves, otters, eagle owls, wild cats, deer, birds of prey, and lots of wild boars with cute piglets. • The focus is on native species and environmental education – more like a forest than a safari, but with a truly clear conscience.

Eekholt Wildlife Park is a true natural highlight in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein – charming, educational, and surprisingly lively. You won't find elephants here, but you'll find wolves, wild boars, and plenty of "local stars" who would otherwise be seen in the forest rather than in the spotlight.

Here in Großenaspe, the Osterau becomes particularly picturesque: clear banks, wooden bridges, birdsong – the perfect place for photos, a picnic or a break in nature.

The Osterau is a tributary of the Stör and originates south of Bad Bramstedt. It winds its way for about 25 km through meadows, fields, and small forests—a true northern German natural idyll.

Even before the current church, there was an older and smaller church in the village, probably since the 16th century. The current octagonal building of the church dates from the 18th century. It is the work of the master builder Johann Adam Richter from 1769-1771. Richter's design is clearly influenced by Cai Dose's churches, and in particular the Rellinger church. From the outside, the slender tower on the west side, built over an open porch, and the heavy mansard roof dominate. In contrast to the Rellinger church, but similar to Dose's first octagonal church in Hörnerkirchen, the roof of the church in Großenaspe has neither a lantern nor other window openings. Daylight only comes in through the large, framed round-arch windows in the rusticated pilaster strips.

Today's octagonal church building (octagon) dates from the 18th century and was inaugurated on September 27th, 1772. It was designed by the well-known architect Johann Adam Richter. It was named after the Russian Tsarina Catherine II, to whose sphere of influence Grossenaspe belonged at the time.
