Within the ancient walls of the Augustinian convent, built in 1137, a truly enchanting setting awaits. The unique ambiance of the convent garden and ruins invites quiet contemplation and is equally suitable for events, ranging from concerts to private family celebrations, whether large or small.

From the upper edge of the "Hardtberg" vineyard, you have a fantastic panoramic view over the vineyards, Dernau, and the surrounding countryside...

Unfortunately, the table and the two benches are no longer there. A little further on, there's a new bench.

At this wayside cross, known as the "Dottendorf Youth Cross," the following thought by the recently deceased Pope Francis may be helpful to some: "In the Resurrection of Christ, each of our destinies finds its place in the infinite horizon of eternity. Only from his death and resurrection does the certainty arise that nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God [as the Apostle Paul writes in his Letter to the Romans, chapter 8]. From this great hope comes every other glimmer of light with which we can overcome life's trials and obstacles. And not only that: the Risen One also walks with us and becomes our companion, as with the disciples on the road to Emmaus."

Hikers are welcome guests at the Krausberghütte, located on the mountain of the same name above Dernau, just a stone's throw from the Krausberg Tower (if interested, see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/72123). It is run by the local chapter of the Eifel Association – a volunteer organization. Those planning a stop here should check the opening hours beforehand.
