Great view of the city and walk through the old cemetery

Main locality in the Argonne natural region. Located in the far east of the Marne and bordering the Meuse

The old building, which now houses a cinema and a brasserie, used to be the city's festival hall. On old postcards (web search: ancienne salle des fetes) you can see the original condition.

The imposing building was rebuilt in 1730 after a fire in 1719. The buildings around the Place du Général Leclerc offer a beautiful ensemble.

The three-nave Gothic church dates from the 13th century and was rebuilt in the 15th and 18th centuries. It fits harmoniously with the medieval upper town of Sainte Menehould.

The town hall and museum were rebuilt after the fire of 1719 in the typical 18th century style by Philippe de La Force. The museum has a fine collection of artworks from the 17th and 18th centuries. Worth seeing!

Sainte Menehould's foundation dates back to Gallo-Roman times. Due to its location on the border with the Holy Roman Empire, the upper town (Butte du château) was developed as a fortress. From up here you have a beautiful view of the lower town. In the upper town you can still see many half-timbered buildings, while in the lower town most of the buildings were rebuilt after the fire in 1719 in the typical 18th century style (ideal town). A typical example is the town hall. The coaching inn played an important role in the escape of King Louis XVI. and Queen Marie Antoinette.

A water sports facility that has both an indoor and outdoor area. There are both heated and "normal" pools. Other sports can also be found here. At least from the outside it looks very large and spacious. In summer or when it gets warmer, pedal boats are also rented here so you can ride on the nearby river. Bicycles can also be rented.
