Lac de la Plaine is a picturesque lake in the Vosges, located near Celles-sur-Plaine, near the larger Lac de Pierre-Percée. The lake is an artificial water reservoir of about 0.5 million m³ and serves as a supply basin for the reservoir above.

They danced with such zeal that they did not hear the bell that called to mass. It has been suggested that the stranger is the devil himself. The punishment was not long in coming, the earth opened up under the dancers, who were drowned in the lake that rose up from the earth. Villagers were condemned to continue dancing there until Judgment Day. Today it is said that on some evenings you can still hear the violinist... "what an incredible robber's pistol" :-D
