Perched more than 150 meters above the Lot Valley, the fortified town of Laparade offers a spectacular view from its belvedere and public garden. Founded in 1265 by Alphonse de Poitiers, it preserves traces of its defensive past: ramparts, moats, and ancient fortified gates.

This pretty town on the edge of the Lot has many curiosities, starting with its town hall which has a unique neo-Moorish architecture. The building is called Château Solar after the name of the family who transformed it. This impressive structure draws inspiration from both the Alhambra in Granada and the Mosque in Cordoba. A very beautiful fountain with spring water jets built in 1859 is also visible on the Place des Halles. This village is at the forefront of innovation since in 1999, the town built the first river port on the Lot. Castelmoron means "the castle of the Moors". This name refers of course to the castle Solar. The city has a beautiful beach close to the main bridge.

At an altitude of 190m, in Laparade, you will find this panoramic view of the Lot valley from the public garden. In good weather you can see the Pyrenees on the horizon.

Foundations are from the 12th century , but is now in full reconstruction .

Castle is currently B&B, but can also be visited by appointment

The Coulx windmill stands proudly on a pech (a hill) at an altitude of 165 meters. Built in 1799 according to the date above the door, the building is a cylindrical tower mill in tuff stone and sandstone with a height of 7 meters, covered with a conical Gascon-type roof. Restored by the municipality which has owned it since 1996
