Beautiful view at a historic site.

This historic monument, approximately 2 meters long, is the property of the municipality of Vergisson. It dates from the Neolithic period and has been classified as a historic monument since September 19, 1958. The role of this menhir was to indicate the West face, it was placed at the sunset of the equinox. There are two other menhirs in the town but which are in a lying position: the South menhir, approximately 2.90 meters high, and the indicator menhir on the North face, approximately 3.90 meters long. The 4th menhir (the former location of which is unknown) was moved and Christianized.

A picnic area welcomes you at the door of the Terres Secretes winegrowers’ cellar. There we discover the only cellar present within the perimeter of the Grand Site Solutré-Pouilly-Vergisson. A wide range of appellations is available for sale. The winery is committed to several labels: “Vignobles & Découverte” and three environmental labels.

Viewpoint, located at an altitude of 485 meters. From the top of the Rock of Vergisson, on the Grand Site Solutré Pouilly Vergisson, offers a unique view of part of the Beaujolais valley and the village of Vergisson below, surrounded by vineyards.

A limestone escarpment 8 km (5.0 mi) west of Mâcon, France, overlooking the commune of Solutré-Pouilly. The Saône plain extends to the east, with a view of the Mâconnais in the foreground, then the Ain and the Dombes with the Alps and Mont Blanc in the background when visibility is good. It's an iconic site if you're in the area.
