Great climb to Mont Aigoual. Directly after André-de-Valborgne there is a lot of gravel on the road for several kilometers due to construction work (as of May 25, 2024). I would hate to have to drive down there. Up we go!

St-André de Valborgne is a pretty village marked by the silk industry in the 19th century. Five spinning mills are thus present on the banks of the Gardon de Saint-Jean. The Château de Nogaret, on an old path leading to the Pompidou, is also an important monument in the village.

This charming little village has nothing to do with Georges Pompidou, president of France in the 1960s. The town, although tiny, encompasses no less than three exceptional Natura 2000 sites: the Gardon valley of Mialet, the Gardon valley of Saint-Jean, and of course is part of the Cévennes massif.

Saint-André-de-Valborgne is THE village to discover and visit if you are passing through this part of the Cévennes. A must go through the tourist office where the sense of hospitality competes with the helpfulness and the relevance of the advice given by the people who hold it will convince you to extend your stay or come back.
