On a limestone spur above the Vezouze lies the Château de Blâmont, built around 1200. Once the seat of the Counts of Blâmont, later a romantic castle and even a weaving mill. In 1944 it was badly damaged by American bombing. Today the ruins – with five towers – are a silent witness to centuries of history.

Between 1914 and 1918, Leintrey was occupied by German troops. The houses and the church were heavily bombed, life became unbearable and the inhabitants had to flee. Liberation did not come until November 1944, after further destruction, including the church.

War Memorial: This modest but impressive monument in Vaucourt commemorates 37 French soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of Chasseurs à Pied who died here in 1914.
