The Sörnzig swing bridge connects the villages of Sörnzig and Fischheim. It was built in 1871 as a wooden jetty so that the children no longer had to be taken by boat to go to school. However, floods repeatedly swept the bridge away. In 1907 a wire cable suspension bridge was erected as a technical monument. According to an ordinance of February 8, 1922, fees were charged for its use. But the wire cable suspension bridge could not withstand the floods of the great flood of 1954 either. It was renovated in 1957/58 at a new, higher location. The new construction, renovated at the beginning of 2002, was not affected by the flooding of the same year.
