The Avalleur commandery is one of the rare Templar complexes in France. Despite some alterations, the architectural interest of the Avalleur commandery is undeniable. The chapel, miraculously intact, with its painted decorations and its beautiful framework, is a typical example of the Templar naves of Eastern France. As for the main building, examination of its walls revealed that they date, essentially, from its origin.

The magnificent Orient Lake

This town, which is part of the Forêt d'Orient regional natural park, is located on the course of the Barse. The source of this river, a tributary of the Seine, gushes out at the castle which you will not fail to see.

This village on the Côte des Bar, on the banks of the Seine, borders the town of Bar-sur-Seine. For many centuries it marked the border between the region of Champagne and that of Burgundy. The name Burgundians comes from there. Until the beginning of the 19th century, there was an old marker there which recalled this division of the territory of France into provinces.

It is a 16th century church which has a rich collection of statues, paintings and stained glass windows. Dedicated to Saint Martin, patron saint of travelers, the church has a remarkable facade with two equestrian statues in his likeness, two Annunciations and a rose window. You can admire the architecture and art inside the church, as well as the gargoyles and stone sculptures outside.

This manor was built by Pierre Pion, a wealthy butcher from Troyes, who restored it after it was damaged by the English during the Hundred Years' War. The manor has four round towers pierced with cannons, a polygonal staircase tower and a double gallery of wooden beams. You can also admire the four monumental fireplaces with sculpted mantles, as well as the coat of arms of Louis XII, who stayed there as seneschal of Champagne. The manor is today the town hall of Rumilly and hosts a reception room on the ground floor.
