The Gertrudis Chapel is located between Erlenbach and Busenberg. Considering that this beautiful chapel was built around 1450, it is very well preserved. It is also beautiful to look at inside.

It has become quite quiet around the St. Gertraud Chapel between Erlenbach and Busenberg. Surrounded by forest, it lies in an idyllic meadow, barely 50 meters below the main road leading to Bad Bergzabern. Most of the time it is only hikers and holidaymakers who stop off at the small shrine on their way through the beautiful Wasgau landscape. It is fitting that the holy abbess Gertrud, to whom the chapel is dedicated, was venerated as the patron saint of travelers in the Middle Ages. Hardly anyone remembers, however, that this place was a popular pilgrimage destination well into the last century: especially on St. Gertrud's Day (March 17), on Ascension Day or on Trinity Sunday, the rural population from the Dahn Valley and nearby Alsace came here to ask for blessings for their work and for the crops. The saint, who was the first abbess of the Nivelles monastery near Brussels in the Merovingian period - in the 7th century - is also considered the patron saint of gardeners.
