7월 8, 2025, Funiculaire du Tréport
The first funicular railway in Le Tréport was inaugurated on July 1, 1908, in the presence of Gaston d'Orléans and his wife Isabelle, Count and Countess of Eu. Thanks to its popularity, more than 2,000 travelers purchased their round-trip tickets in the first month of operation. This amazing idea was born after the extension of the Eu-Le Tréport electric tram line to serve the "Les Terrasses" district proved impossible due to the significant elevation difference on Rue de la Commune de Paris.

This former royal residence hosted the kings and queens of France and England. It was built in the 16th century by Henri de Lorraine, third Duke of Guise, and renovated in the 17th century by Grande Mademoiselle, cousin of Louis XIV. It became the property of Louis-Philippe, last king of France, who hosted Queen Victoria there twice. You can run around the castle from the station, and visit the museum there.

Eu residents lament that their town is really only known to crossword enthusiasts, who are familiar with the question of "a village in the valley of the Bresle with two letters." After all, Eu has a rich past, in which William the Conqueror married his cousin Mathilde of Flanders in 1050, and where more recently, at the end of the 19th century, King Louis-Philippe set up his summer residence here.

Nothing remains of the castle where William the Conqueror and Mathilde of Flanders married in 1050. Louis XI had it demolished in 1475. The current castle was built in 1578 by Henri de Guise and Catharina van Kleef and has been restored several times. It came into the possession of the Orléans family and became one of the favorite cuttings of Louis-Philippe, who received Queen Victoria twice. From 1874 to 1879, Violet-le-Duc was charged with the refurbishment by the Count of Paris, grandson of the King. He modernized the castle and installed gas lamps and central heating. Since 1964, the castle has been owned by the city of Eu. It houses the town hall and the Musée Louis-Philippe and has been listed as a protected monument since 1985.

The church is modern but no less impressive in its design. Stain-glassed windows are huge and the town is a delight.

8월 11, 2022, Briga (ville antique)
Even if only foundation walls can be seen, they are at least impressive in their size. In any case, the city seems to have been not insignificant in Roman Gaul. You can find more information on the page. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Briga

6월 28, 2022, Briga (ville antique)
Briga was a Gallo-Roman town which prefigured the city of Eu. The site corresponds to a secondary city of the Early Roman Empire whose surface area is currently estimated at more than 65 ha. The remains of the ancient city, hidden under the forest for more than a millennium, were only rediscovered at the end of the 18th century, when it was decided to extend the road from Eu into the forest. Even today, excavations are organized every year in summer. But the origins of the site seem to date back before the Roman occupation. In the current state of knowledge, it is the sanctuary which seems to be the oldest point of occupation, and to derive its existence from a place of Celtic worship which dates back to the 3rd century BC. AD Impossible to miss it, the small road passes right in the middle of the site...
