Very cute little village, well renovated and maintained, with a nice set up, both on the cliffs with incredible "basaltic columns", and down by the river. There is a nice bar & restaurant, l'Embuscade, where you need to book ahead if you wanna eat there!

This castle is definitely worth a visit. From this ancient fortress, you will have an incredible view of the village of Saint-Ilpize and Villeneuve d'Allier. Its strategic position allowed the Dauphins of Auvergne to monitor the Allier gorges.

This part offers a beautiful view of the village of Saint-Pal-de-Senouire. We can see the Saint-Paul church which sits at the top of the rocky promontory on which the village was built.

This bridge has been classified as a historic monument since 2015. It is one of the four suspension bridges remaining in Haute-Loire. It spans the Allier and offers a beautiful perspective of the gorges.

Lavoûte-Chilhac is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Located in the Allier gorges, it has adapted to its environment. The village is split into two parts on either side of the river. Enjoy the traboules, its priory or simply the view of the Allier!

If history buffs choose to visit the castle, the more athletic can take advantage of the nature around the castle to run in the footsteps of the childhood of the “hero of two worlds”.

Both a great craftsman in the American Revolutionary War and a leading figure during the French Revolution, the "hero of two worlds" was born and spent his childhood here. His story is obviously fascinating and you can walk around the castle to discover the environment in which he grew up but also visit the castle to learn more.
