Village center

This part offers a beautiful view of the village of Saint-Pal-de-Senouire. We can see the Saint-Paul church which sits at the top of the rocky promontory on which the village was built.

The abbey of La Chaise-Dieu is a former Benedictine abbey. It is a jewel of southern Gothic. Located in the village of La Chaise-Dieu, it was built during the 11th century. Lac de Malaguet is an artificial lake created and exploited by man since the Middle Ages. Today it is a Regional Nature Reserve.

This town, like so many others in the department of La Haute-Loire, is located at the foot of a volcano. The department has more than 500. This once very prosperous village is dominated by "La Potence". This name is given to the particular ruins of its medieval castle, which dominates the village.

Artificial lake of 22 hectares, located at 1025 meters above sea level. Away from traffic and homes, in lush greenery. A small path allows you to go around the lake.

The village of La Chaise-Dieu is nestled on a granite promontory, more than 1000 meters above sea level. Saint-Robert Abbey and its Sacred Music Festival are worth the detour.
