Richebourg is a commune in the Haute-Marne department in France. It is a picturesque village that forms part of the route of the Via Francigena, a historic pilgrimage route that runs from Canterbury to Rome. The segment of the Via Francigena that passes through Richebourg is known as one of the most scenic and historic sections of the route. It offers a mix of forests, open fields and historical sites.

The Église Saint-Nicolas in Richebourg is a church building in Haute-Marne. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, children and merchants. The church dates from the 12th century and has a Romanesque style with a square tower and a semicircular apse. The church has been a historical monument since 1925 and contains a number of works of art, such as a 16th-century painting of Saint Nicholas, a 17th-century organ and an 18th-century altar. The church can be visited by appointment with the municipality of Richebourg. The vitraux de l'église sont l'œuvre de Calixte Poupart.

The Church of the Assumption dates from 1554 and was originally dedicated to Saint Didier, but was later changed to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It has a remarkable collection of 17th century paintings, some of which are inspired by famous artists such as Rubens and Rembrandt. You can also admire the marble altar, the stone altarpiece and the funerary slab of Abbot Alexandre Lecharny. The church is open to visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Mondays and public holidays.

A beautiful old village with a very quiet campsite and lots of nature all around. To discover for yourself. Very nice to cycle along the little river L'Aujon, in the national park - core zone only on foot.

A former fortified village, Châteauvillain had many towers, now almost all destroyed. The main curiosity of the city is in a deer park, of more than 270 hectares created in 1655. The city also has a magnificent Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. The Château de Châteauvillain located rue du Duc-de-Vitry, houses a very interesting museum which serves as a place of memory of the town.

You have to think for yourself and prepare carefully because everything you bring along needs to fit on your bike while you are still able to ride it. Water, nutrition and the right equipment are crucial as well as an honest judgement of your capabilities. The route that we provide is an option but not mandatory to be followed. rad-race.com

Nice little and very poor church in the tiny village of Les Goulles (12 inhabitants). We prayed our morning prayer here in silence. A short stop is worthwhile, for a break, for silence, to rest ... We found the way in which the holy water was in the pool particularly interesting - really pragmatic.

Idyllic little place in the narrow valley of the Aube. Here we went for breakfast in the small mom and pop shop called Coco's Bar, which is converted in the evening to the village pub: very quaint and wonderfully hospitable!
