The view is overgrown; the two rest benches are quite old; a sign on the tree points to a barefoot path that apparently (steps next to the rest benches indicate) once existed here.

The way from the prot. Church up to the castle ruins is NOT so extremely steep and also offers nicer views (up to the castle ruins)!

“The Ritterstein marks the Biedenbacher Woog, one of a total of 5 woogen of the Leinbach. The inscription of the Ritterstein can be found on the weir. [...] A hermitage is also known as a woog in the Palatinate. It is an artificially created reservoir with brick dams and outflow openings. The logs cut here were between one and 1.75 meters long and were primarily used as firewood. The craft of drifting in the Leinbachtal developed in the 19th century. The wood from the Leinbachtal was drifted into the Upper Rhine lowlands, where it was lifted out of the water again by the lumberjacks at so-called lumberyards. Drifting was only carried out on the Biedenbacher Woog in March and April, as this meant that damage to meadows could be avoided and the Leinbach could have its highest water level during this period." Here we took a break, enjoyed the view and marveled at how impressively nature frames the village of Frankenstein. The castle 🏰 is best seen from this side, simply fantastic 📷👍

Great tour for all mountain bikers. Most of the route is very easy to drive even for beginners. There are also a few great highlights on the route.

One of the most beautiful trail combinations south of Hochspeyer. From the B48 you go down to the single trail park, always along blaugelb, with a piece of forest road in between. Very flowing sections with waves, alternate with somewhat rougher parts. Also ideal for beginners as there are no real difficulties. S0 with a few slightly more difficult passages. In the end, a big grin is always the order of the day
