The Château des Tourelles has a typical history of a medieval building. Its construction began in the 13th century, but it was not completed until the 18th century. Its impressive turrets justify the name of the castle. Listed as a Historic Monument, it is located a few steps from the old mill, another point of great interest in Vernon.

The Old Mill was built on the remains of a medieval arched bridge. The bridge dates back to the 12th century, but the mill was added in the 16th century. It is the last remaining remnant of the ancient mills built on bridges in the region. This one served as a subject for the famous Impressionist painter Claude Monet.

It brings together both the beautiful castle of the turrets but also the old mill and the Vernon marina. A quiet place, and drinking water points near the boat pontoons.

A break for a surprising photo. The Old Mill is the last witness to the mills that existed at this location. Become a simple half-timbered house, it was built around the 16th century, straddling two of the pillars of the 12th century medieval bridge which, crossing the Seine at the level of the Talus island on which it rested, linked the town of Vernonnet to that of Vernon (joining of the first to the second in 1804). https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Vieux-Moulin_(Vernon)

The old mill was built on the remains of a medieval bridge and was a popular impressionist impressionist painter, such as Claude Monet. It is the last of its kind in the area and a beautiful example of Norman half-timbered buildings with vertical beams.
