Nice relaxing walk

Small loop around the Kronenburger Lake. Unfortunately, wheelchair users cannot complete a complete loop as only one side is asphalted and the opposite side is rocky and not paved.

The Kronenburger See was built between 1973 and 1977 as a flood retention basin. The lake has been a popular destination for sailors, surfers, anglers and swimmers for years. During the summer months, the lido on the southern shore of the lake with its large lawn invites you to swim and sunbathe. In addition, the entire southern lake area can be navigated with surfboards, pedal boats and rowing boats (boat rental). Tennis courts, mini golf course, kiosk and playground complete the leisure activities on the south bank.

The St. Lambertus parish church dates back to the 14th century. The oldest part of the church is the tower (approx. 11th to 12th century). The choir is the second oldest part. The tower was later connected to the choir by the nave (first mention of the church at the beginning of the 14th century in the register of all parishes in the diocese of Cologne). The church in Manderfeld was built as a single-pillar church in the Gothic style, i.e. with a supporting pillar in the middle of the nave on which the vaults rest. The memorial stands at a crossroads near the church. It serves to commemorate the fallen of the world wars from Manderfeld.

Like the churches of Büllingen, Amel, Thommen and Neundorf, the Manderfeld parish church may have been built on the foundations of a Franconian royal court. The parish church is a single-nave quarry stone building from the 16th century. The west tower is much older. The coat of arms of the Trier Elector Richard von Greiffenclau (on the outside of the tower) indicates a foundation.

The Kronenburg reservoir is located near the German-Belgian border and half an hour's bike ride from B&B Level600. This lake is fed by the River Kyll. The famous Kyll cycle path is also named after this river, which connects seamlessly to the Belgian VennBahn and Vennquerbahn. These are asphalted, disused railways, on which you can make cool bike rides completely traffic-free and almost flat.
