Since autumn 2023, the Prüm River can once again be crossed via a new, partially accessible suspension bridge. The view from the bridge is fantastic! However, the bridge sways quite a bit, so people like me with a fear of heights need a lot of courage; I only managed a short stretch. But there's also a lovely path around it.

The bridge sways slightly but is still easy to walk on. In the middle, there are benches on each side.

There is a nearby hiking parking lot between Irrel and Prümzurlay from which you can easily reach the suspension bridge. For some, the bridge itself is an experience, while for others it's a convenient starting point for challenging or easy hikes. Replacement for the wooden bridge that was washed away in 2021. Accessible from Ernzen / Nature Park Center via the "Devilish Eight" trail for experienced hikers.

Cyclists have to dismount and push, but this is entirely justified. 👍

After the old bridge was washed away in a storm in 2021, this amazing suspension bridge was built. Walking across it is an experience; it swings and makes you feel like you're on the high seas 😂. There are two benches at the highest point for resting, but I'm not sure if that's good for you 🤢?

A real highlight of the route: The suspension bridge leads high above the wild waters of the Irrel Waterfalls. Surrounded by rocks, moss, and rushing spray, you can feel the raw power of nature beneath your feet. Every step across the swinging bridge becomes a mini-adventure – with a magnificent view of the narrow gorge below. 📸 Tip: Walk slowly across the bridge and look back occasionally – the perspective from the middle is impressive and makes for a great photo opportunity.

Unfortunately, one can no longer call it a waterfall; perhaps the name "Irrel Canyon" would be more appropriate? But regardless, it's a beautiful piece of nature, and nature is constantly changing. The damaged old wooden bridge has since been replaced by a suspension bridge.
