The beautiful Mariengrotte (Grotto of the Virgin Mary) with the Albach waterfall is certainly one of the highlights of the 11th stage of the Felsenweg (Rock Trail).

In the immediate vicinity of the Mariengrotte (Grotto of St. Mary) we find this beautiful waterfall of the Albach River. A truly worthwhile photo opportunity.

The stream is mainly formed from the wastewater from the Bitburg sewage treatment plant. Odor nuisance cannot be ruled out under certain circumstances.

The stone bridge below the waterfall is safe to walk on. Along the (closed) hiking trail further up there is another waterfall. The grotto was probably built in the time of great unemployment in the 1920s. For more information, see e.g. https://www.eifel.info/a-mariengrotte-albach

The Mariengrotte is located at a large waterfall. The bridge above the waterfall is dilapidated and not accessible. Many signs with thanks are attached to the wall of the grotto.

The grotto can be reached from the bike path via a short set of stairs. Hiking trail on the other side is closed.
