A must-see, the whole village is beautiful and peaceful. It's a perfect place even for a one-night stopover!

Set up for the section of the canal opened to traffic in 1832 (from Pont-de-Pany to Tonnerre). Located on the right bank, the lock keeper's house is built of coated rubble stones, with mechanical tiles. A lean-to extension extends the right side of the roof of the house. Extremely remodeled, the house today opens through a semi-circular door, in the extension.

I also recommend hiking this place as a tour. Because this passage outside the walls also offers many fascinating views of the place and river landscape.

After visiting the village and climbing up to the castle, I recommend returning from outside the village along the Serein on one side and the rest of the ramparts and its many towers on the other. There are still an impressive number of towers, some modified but still beautiful.

The "Serpentine" loop is a must do, it is equipped with very well done explanatory panels which give an extra dimension to the walk.

Magnificent little town, whose inhabitants are welcoming and passionate, plan time to observe and discuss!

The town of Noyers-sur-Serein is considered one of the most authentic in France for a reason. The "Nucériens", as the villagers call themselves, are a very hospitable breed. The butcher shop is particularly recommended.

This medieval village, among the best preserved, is on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. With its cobbled streets, lined with half-timbered houses on arcades, its plots, churches, ramparts and sculpted capitals, it gives the impression of evolving in a historical film set. And rightly so, since Noyers sur Serein has served as the setting for numerous filmings, and in particular for the series "Une famille formidable" (during seasons 9 & 10) and the film "La grande vadrouille" (inn scene: when Bourvil and Louis de Funès, on the run, put their bicycles against a wall and slip into an inn in the middle of a Wehrmacht banquet).
