Worth a visit, very beautiful inside and well preserved.

Former fortified village of Yonne, on the Burgundy canal, Ravières is located about sixty kilometers from Auxerre, on the banks of the Armançon river. From this point you can enjoy a view of its small port with its small private boats and cruise ships.

La Grande Forge was built in 1786 by Count Buffon. The forge was used for processing iron and was located at a place where it could use the river and later the canals to transport goods and raw materials. Count Buffon built his castle nearby.

The old iron forge "Forges de Buffon" has been a "monument historique" since 1943 and is privately owned. In the 1920s it was used as a cement factory.

The town of Noyers-sur-Serein is considered one of the most authentic in France for a reason. The "Nucériens", as the villagers call themselves, are a very hospitable breed. The butcher shop is particularly recommended.

This medieval village, among the best preserved, is on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. With its cobbled streets, lined with half-timbered houses on arcades, its plots, churches, ramparts and sculpted capitals, it gives the impression of evolving in a historical film set. And rightly so, since Noyers sur Serein has served as the setting for numerous filmings, and in particular for the series "Une famille formidable" (during seasons 9 & 10) and the film "La grande vadrouille" (inn scene: when Bourvil and Louis de Funès, on the run, put their bicycles against a wall and slip into an inn in the middle of a Wehrmacht banquet).

Voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, a tour of the charming medieval town is a must during a holiday in Burgundy. Stroll through medieval cobblestone streets past the magnificent half-timbered houses, which often have wood carvings or their original arcades and are decorated with flowers. One finds peace below the defensive walls, which are equipped with many defensive towers, right on the banks of the Serein. It is advisable to receive a flyer at the tourist information office at the entrance to the town, which explains 16 interesting and worth seeing stations on a circular route. In the past, the place was often used as a film set (e.g. "The Great Party" with Louis de Funès).
