This museum is located on the front lines of the Battle of the Somme. The white concrete design by architect Henri-Edouard Ciriani describes a gentle arc set into the southwest wall of the medieval castle. During the First World War, during the Battle of the Somme, on 15 September 1916, the village was retaken by the French army. The losses were heavy, the 60th Infantry Regiment was wiped out and the 44th Infantry Regiment lost 600 soldiers.
