Great park! First up and then down with the MTB.

Saint John the Baptist, to whom the church "St. John the Baptist" in Nideggen is dedicated, is - like Saint Joseph - a man on the threshold of the Old and New Testaments. His parents are Zacharias and Elizabeth, and after the announcement of the incarnation of God through them, the Mother of God visits her relative Elizabeth, who will give birth to a son in old age, namely John the Baptist. He is half a year older than Jesus and is considered his forerunner. He lives in the desert, preaches repentance from sin to the Jewish population and baptizes them in the Jordan, where Jesus also comes to be baptized, and is filled with the Holy Spirit who descends upon him from heaven. The memorial day of Saint John the Baptist in the calendar of saints is June 24, exactly half a year before 'Christmas Eve'.

There is a rest area and an information station about the national park

Nice information point with lots of maps, souvenirs etc., everything you need. Train station towards Düren and Heimbach right next door and camping is possible in the car park. However, there is no electricity etc. In general, a great starting point for tours in the Rureifel

Very beautiful hiking trail on the edge of the rocky plateau of Nideggen Castle in the Rur Valley.

Wonderful path over the rocks of Nideggen with great views.
