What a wonderful place! There's a restroom, the supermarket is nearby, a guest book, a stove, lots of candles, a fire pit, a large lawn... and all of this for just a small donation. Super sweet!

Very good cabin, lockable from the inside, 1 bed, 1 double bed, toilet, large "living room," plenty of firewood, barbecue area, and indoor stove. Room for at least 6 people. Free of charge, donations requested. No drinking water.

When I visited on June 7, 2024, the hut was locked. There is a beautiful, large meadow area around it with plenty of space for camping and new benches and tables have apparently been set up. A very beautiful and quiet place.

There are around 400 wooden houses in Gammelstad's church town. Most of them are painted Falun red, some are not painted. The houses are grouped around a medieval stone church from 1492, the Nederluleå Kyrka (“Lower Luleå Church”). It is actually a village. But it is still called a church town.

Luleå Cathedral is currently undergoing a major renovation. Work is currently focused on the east and north sides of the church, with completion scheduled for October 2024. The entire renovation is expected to be completed in 2027, but the tower represents the project's biggest challenge.

The church is the largest medieval church in Norrland. Construction began in the early 15th century and it was consecrated in 1492. The church tower was built in 1851.
