Mora lies at the heart of Dalarna, on the shores of Lake Siljan and along the Österdalälven river. It’s world-famous as the finish line of the Vasaloppet, and in summer runners can follow parts of the same historic trail. From lakeside paths to forest tracks, the area offers varied terrain and the unique atmosphere of Sweden’s most iconic endurance event.

There are seats and a toilet, but the water was turned off due to bacterial contamination (this probably happens more often here, so it is better to fill up at the gas station below).

Mellansjön is a small, quiet lake nestled between pine and birch forests. Its secluded shores offer a peaceful break away from busy trails, making it an ideal spot to pause and take in the surrounding nature. Easily accessible by bike or on foot, it’s a hidden gem in the heart of the Swedish landscape.

This classic Swedish church has lovely gardens, great for a break on your ride. Plus, Lake Siljan's shore is close by, so you can easily head over for amazing lake views

Sollerön island, in Lake Siljan, is connected to Mora by this bridge, which and is like a gateway to Dalarna's heart. Expect scenic routes through farmland and forests. The crossing provides stunning lake views and it will let you explore the island's Viking history and traditional villages.

A perfect shelter for an overnight stay or to shelter from the weather, but be mindful that it doesn't have a water supply.

An oldies fan has recreated an old gas station and a western saloon here. With many curious antiques. Worth seeing!

The S/S Laxen is a Swedish steamboat located at the Siljansfors Forest Museum in Mora. The ship Laxen was built in 1899 at Gefle Varv for Nedre Dalelfven Fleet Association. She was used to collecting wood (wood hunting) in Hedesundafjärden. For this purpose, she was equipped with a steam-powered capstan winch with around 2,000 meters of wire. The S/S Laxen had two sister ships the S/S Östa 1898 and S/S Bäsingen 1905.
