Mora lies at the heart of Dalarna, on the shores of Lake Siljan and along the Österdalälven river. It’s world-famous as the finish line of the Vasaloppet, and in summer runners can follow parts of the same historic trail. From lakeside paths to forest tracks, the area offers varied terrain and the unique atmosphere of Sweden’s most iconic endurance event.

The original manufacturer of the typical Swedish Dala horses. In addition to the shop, you can also visit the old production facility and see how the horses are carved and painted by hand.

There are seats and a toilet, but the water was turned off due to bacterial contamination (this probably happens more often here, so it is better to fill up at the gas station below).

This classic Swedish church has lovely gardens, great for a break on your ride. Plus, Lake Siljan's shore is close by, so you can easily head over for amazing lake views

Sollerön island, in Lake Siljan, is connected to Mora by this bridge, which and is like a gateway to Dalarna's heart. Expect scenic routes through farmland and forests. The crossing provides stunning lake views and it will let you explore the island's Viking history and traditional villages.

In Siljansnäs, just over a mile from Leksand, there are four cross country trails with varying hilly and occasionally striking views of Siljan. The different trails are small adventures along paths and forest roads, through old-growth and cultural landscapes, with Siljan's water mirror in almost all directions.

Hildasholm is a two-hectare natural park that blooms in full splendor during the summer months.
