The impressive, tar-colored Saltkaret rises over 20 meters in the World Heritage area of the Kvarken Archipelago. The tower is located in the Svedjehamn fishing port and offers a beautiful view over the De Geer moraines. This unique moraine archipelago testifies to the enormous power of the last ice age in the Kvarken archipelago. The area visible from the tower is a perfect example of the De Geer areas in Finland. The tower also delights many bird watchers, as many of the island's typical bird species, such as coots, terns and sea eagles, can be spotted in the area. The wooden observation tower is also an excellent stopover for hikers as it is located directly on the hiking trail. The lower level of the tower can also be reached with strollers or wheelchairs.
