Kuopio is a lively city in eastern Finland, and it's the ninth-largest city in the country, with a population of around 120,000. It’s located in the North Savo region, beautifully surrounded by Lake Kallavesi, which gives the city a unique island-like feel.

Located in the heart of the city, the Kuopio campus is especially strong in health sciences, housing the Faculty of Health Sciences, the School of Medicine, and close connections with Kuopio University Hospital (KUH).

Juankoski is an interesting destination for everyone interested in culture and history. In 1746, Finland's first lake ore furnace was established here, and the area's long history in iron works is still visible in many ways both in buildings and other monuments.
