Both towers are classified as buildings of "public interest," as is the wall connecting them, the Tower of Cadeia Velha and the Tower of S. Paulo (once also known as the Tower of S. Paulo). They are the most prominent witnesses to what remains of the old wall of Ponte de Lima, which, in addition to the walled structure, consisted of towers and doors, a group of buildings built during the reign of Pedro I in the 14th century.

The ex-libris of Ponte de Lima, which together with the river that bathes the town, gave the town its name, is its bridge. In reality, it is a group formed by two bridges: a larger medieval section, which begins on the left bank and extends to the Church of Santo António da Torre Velha and also passes through it in two arches. Then, the remaining section of the Roman bridge. There are only five arches from the large arch that is on a dry bed. If you go down you will also see the foundations of the Old Tower, perhaps the first of the medieval defensive system. The Roman bridge probably dates back to the 1st century, since it was at that time that the route of one of the military roads of the former "Conventus Bracaraugustanus", which connected Braga to Astorga, was opened, in this case Via XIX, ordered to be opened by the Emperor Augustus. As regards the medieval part, although we can go back in time, at least to the reigns of D. Pedro I and D. Fernando, due to a direct connection to the construction of the walls and towers that fortified the town, a work completed in 1370 , or even D. Dinis, taking into account documentation that mentions a bridge, which could also, at that time, be made of wood, we know of its existence during the reign of D. Manuel I, more precisely in 1504, because this monarch had new paving was ordered and merlons were installed to decorate the bridge, as they were no longer justified as a defensive and military option.

Nice city from 1140 with approximately 120,000 inhabitants. The symbol of the rooster from the legend of the man wrongly sentenced to the gallows is not only a symbol of the city but also a symbol of Portugal.

The town is dominated by watchtowers, built in the fourteenth century, which, together with the whitewashed houses, make it an attractive town. Some women still go to the river to wash their clothes and hang them on the banks of the river to dry. In addition to the bridge, there are many beautiful palaces and country houses in the city and the surrounding area

Bom Jesus do Monte is a Roman Catholic shrine in Tenões, on the eastern outskirts of Braga in northern Portugal. The sanctuary is a remarkable example of a pilgrimage site. The most striking feature are the baroque monumental stairs, which lead over a height difference of 116 meters. It is an important tourist attraction of the city of Braga. On the hill of Espinho, on the site of today's basilica, a cross was erected in the 14th century, possibly after the Battle of Salado in 1340. A small chapel followed on the Sacri Monti in 1373 and a larger one in 1973 1494. Over the years, the chapel became too small for the numerous pilgrims, and so larger churches were built in 1522, 1629 and 1722. The current construction of the sanctuary was begun in 1722 under the Archbishop of Braga, Rodrigo de Moura Teles; his coat of arms is on the door at the top of the stairs. Under his leadership, the first staircase with chapels dedicated to the Via Crucis was completed.[The construction of the current church and the third part of the staircase began in 1784 under Archbishop Gaspar de Bragança, was completed in 1811 and several times over the years renovated.

It is one of the city's most notable civil architectural buildings in the Joanne Baroque style. On the façade, the exuberance of decoration stands out, from the richly crafted central door and also from the 11 windows that run through the two floors. The ornaments are asymmetrical, giving the building a dynamism and drama common in the work of architect André Soares.

The original Roman bridge was rebuilt around Middle Ages. She is always impressive, no matter how old she really is. What's annoying is that the huge parking lot runs right up to and under the bridge.
