Fascinated by the unique light of this landscape between the sea and the Bodden, artists have been coming to this former fishing village for 125 years, transforming it into an artists' colony. The unique flair of this place, traditionally the cultural center of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst region, can be experienced in many exhibitions, such as the art museum or the Kunstkaten (art house), as well as at numerous events. The landscape also offers spectacular scenery: sandy beaches, steep shores, and the expansive Bodden landscape lie close together here. The former fishing village of Wieck on the Darß peninsula is a state-recognized resort. Its landscape is dominated by predominantly thatched houses. The small Wieck marina is located on the southeast shore of the Darß peninsula on the Bodstedter Bodden. It offers guest moorings in 1.4-meter water depths.
