Old village church dating back to the 9th century. The Gospel has been preached on the site of St. Magnus Church since the 9th century. Excavations by Professor A. E. van Giffen have shown that the current church building was preceded by a series of wooden structures, likely built in the 9th and 10th centuries. Along the road to Gasteren and Oude Molen in the Gasterse Duinen lies the remote dolmen. The dolmen itself is no longer intact because some of the stones have been stolen, but it is still worth a visit. Especially in late summer the heather is in full bloom and it is wonderfully relaxing in the middle of the forest. This dolmen is easily accessible, there is a spacious parking lot. It is a freely accessible walking area, you only have to enter it via a cattle grid because a flock of sheep is grazing there.

The valley of the Drentsche Aa was largely formed by meltwater at the end of the penultimate ice age, the Saalien, 200,000-130,000 years ago. Large glaciers from Scandinavia moved across the Northern Netherlands and changed the landscape, leaving behind a boulder clay plateau with boulders and deep meltwater channels, including that of the current Drentsche Aa. The Drentsche Aa is unique in the Netherlands because of its well-preserved stream. The stream has meandered through the landscape for centuries and has created rich, nature-friendly farmland through centuries of farming activities. The Drentsche Aa is the backbone of the Drentsche Aa National Park.
