The Mirnserklif on the IJsselmeer is a popular spot for kitesurfers, kite flyers, and beachgoers. The cliff was formed during the penultimate ice age, when shifting ice from Scandinavia shaped the Gaasterland landscape. The Mirnserklif has been a favorite lookout spot for centuries. Until the 1960s, the cliff formed a single entity with the Rijsterbos forest. The wide road constructed at that time bisects the natural monument. To the left of the cliff lies a walking path called "Freuleleantsje," specially constructed for the Lady Van Swinderen, who lived at Slot Rijs at the time. A small dome has been erected there since 2023, and you can also enjoy the view over the water from the pavilion's terrace.

In the Bos Elfbergen lies a beautiful pond that you can admire from an idyllic wooden bridge. This largest forest in Gaasterland, created in the 19th century, offers a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees that give the whole a fairytale atmosphere. Walk or cycle along the winding paths and enjoy the peace, the view of the water and the surrounding nature.

The Bocht fan Molkwar is a nature reserve in the province of Friesland. The Bocht fan Molwar nature reserve is the area outside the dike between Hindeloopen and Molkwerum. The area consists of reed fields, poor grassland, several artificial islands off the Frisian coast and the surrounding water. The nature reserve is managed by the Frisian nature conservation organisation It Fryske Gea, which constructed three islands off the coast between Hindeloopen and Molkwerum in 1995. Since then, the area has developed into a resting and breeding area for numerous water and meadow birds. The area is not freely accessible. It is possible to observe the flora and fauna of the area from the IJsselmeer dike and the birdwatching hut. Fantastic nature. Super nice cycle paths.

The Mirnser Klif is a boulder clay ridge in the Frisian region of Gaasterland south of the town of Mirns. The reef was created during the Saalien by advancing land ice and formed a natural sea defense against the water of the Zuiderzee and currently against the water of the IJsselmeer.

Cycling along the Luts you will pass through the pleasant Balk with its terraces and nice shopping street. From Beam you can continue along the Luts towards the Gaasterland forests.
