The Balloërveld is a beautiful wide sandy plain, interspersed with heathland. In addition, there are also burial mounds and medieval cart tracks to be seen. You imagine yourself in another world here.

Last weekend, De Baak was unveiled along the Pieterpad on the Balloërveld. The artwork made of stones is a marker for walkers who can read the number of kilometers left to walk. The artwork was created by artist Arie Fonk from Rolde. He used sixty boulders for it, which together weigh forty tons. The largest stone, with the distances to Pieterburen and the Sint Pietersberg in Maastricht, weighs six tons.
