As the name suggests, the village of Loenen is beautifully situated on the Vecht. The oldest surviving part of Loenen aan de Vecht dates from the 13th century, but the village has existed since the 10th century. It has a beautiful historic center.

Fort Uitermeer is part of the old and new Dutch water line and the defense line of Amsterdam. The fort has stood here in various guises: from an original redoubt from before 1589 to an earthen fort and later a bombproof fort. Nowadays you can enjoy coffee and pastries in this beautiful place. Would you like to trade in the legcar for the boat? Then this is also a very nice place to moor your sloop!

This Fort was built to properly defend both Vechtbanks. The Fort dates from 1861. The Fort has been restored, but at the entrance you can see the lifting mechanism of the former bridge.
