The Ritterhude town hall was donated by the Ries brothers. Beautiful old building

The brothers Johann Friedrich and Hermann Hinrich Ries, who came from Ritterhude, emigrated to America and acquired a fortune in New York. In addition to extensive land, they donated six representative buildings to their hometown, which were built between 1912 and 1932. The architect of the first building (gymnasium) was Professor Schuckmann, the other Ries houses were designed by his son Friedrich (government architect in Bremen). Here is the town hall of the Ritterhude community, built in 1920. The savings and loan bank was originally housed in the left wing of the building. There is a monument to the founders in the representative garden in front of the town hall.
