This watchtower gives a very nice view over Willeskop nature reserve in the north and the meadows in the south. You can see many species of birds in this area. In the spring it is a nice place for, for example, wheatear, yellow wagtail, mockingbird, purple heron, summer teal, bluethroat and Temminck's sandpiper. In winter you have a chance of seeing bitterns, peregrine falcons, goosanders, hen harriers and swan. This nature development area has some shallow pools and pitrus fields. The area lies between two quays, the Bloklandse Dijk and the Noordzijdse Kade. There are meadows on the south side of the last quay. In the past, rarities such as gull heron, white-winged tern, American teal, black-winged stilt and stone curlew have been observed here.
