Despite being an ancient wood with hardwood, during the 20th century, it was replanted with softwood, although a large portion of the original plants and hardwood trees survived. Currently, efforts are being made to restore the initial wood by allowing the original plants and trees to reestablish themselves, as well as gradually removing the softwood.
