Old, convivial, well kept beer

This small village in Suffolk county has around 580 residents. It owes its name to its founder, Pacca, of Anglo-Saxon origin. At this point, we can see the village sign, featuring the images of its two most recognizable icons: its watermill and windmill. The village has a pub where we can make a stop to quench our thirst.

The Ixworth village sign that we see on this corner presents the context of this village throughout time. On each of its sides, we can observe a representative image from a significant period of history for the village and its community.

To get to the church, you have to take a small driveway from the main street, which will lead you to the church and a small churchyard with the War Memorial. Regarding the church, the tower stands out, dating from the late 15th century.

This is one of the two famous mills in the village of Pakenham, in this case, the windmill. Built in 1831 (though there are sources dating the construction back to 1820), this mill has been restored and maintained over time, with a notable restoration carried out after being struck by lightning in 1971.

Love a free house. Large beer garden at rear.

No shop front signage so keep a look out or it’s easy to miss it.

This place is a little hidden off the main road - look for the driveway marked ‘Thornham Estate - Thornham Walks’.

Finningham is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in the East of England, located approximately 7.5 miles north of Stowmarket and 16 miles from the county town of Ipswich. In 2011 its population was 480.

Gislingham is situated around the area of Stowmarket, Eye and Diss and dates from at least the 9th century. It is in the northern part of Suffolk that was once part of Norfolk. The village was well established by the time of the Domesday Book

Working Mill dating back to 1831, the nearby Watermill is still producing stone ground flour that makes the best bread!
