The building of today's listed Dreimädelhaus was built in 1767 by Ahrend Ahrents and in the following years the "Alte Kate" and the barn on the opposite side of the street were added. With the construction of the railway line between Harpstedt and Delmenhorst, the flow of weekend trippers from Bremen swelled in the 1920s. The name "Dreimädelhaus" also comes from this time and goes back to the then owner Heinrich Ahrents and his three daughters.

The Dünsener Bach is an approximately 33.5-kilometer-long river in Lower Saxony, forming part of the Weser river system as a left-bank tributary of the Klosterbach. Its source is northwest of Wedehorn, and the actual "Dünsener Bach" begins about seven kilometers southwest of Groß Hollwedel. The stream flows northward, passing through Harpstedt, Dünsen, and Groß Ippener, and finally flows into the Varreler Bäke east of Delmenhorst as the Pultern. A large part of the Dünsener Bach flows through the "Dünsener Bach - Steller Heide" nature reserve. This area was declared a protected area in 1972 and covers an area of 461.47 hectares. It is an important habitat for numerous plant and animal species and offers opportunities for nature observation and recreational activities such as hiking and cycling. In recent decades, the Dünsener Bach has suffered greatly due to human intervention. Many sections of the stream have been straightened and deepened, resulting in a loss of natural structures and habitats. However, efforts are underway to improve the stream structure and restore the stream to its natural state.
