The listed Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Bartholomew stands in Mittelnkirchen, a municipality in the district of Stade in Lower Saxony. The St. Bartholomew parish belongs to the Lühekirchen parish in the Stade church district of the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover. A great cycling and hiking trail passes by here; a stop is highly recommended and interesting 👍🏼.

The church organ was built in 1688 by Arp Schnitger, incorporating a predecessor instrument from the 16th century. After several modifications, it now has 30 stops across two manuals and a pedalboard. Highly recommended and fascinating! 👍🏼

A hike along the Lühe dike is highly recommended and very beautiful. The old thatched-roof houses are located right on the dike. A visit is highly recommended 👍🏻.

There are many rest areas along the dike. You can enjoy wonderful views of the apple orchards, the Elbe River, the park surrounding the Lühe landing stage, the children's playground, and many other beautiful sights.

The Lühe-Schulau ferry transports passengers back and forth, taking approximately 25 minutes. Since 1918, the connection has existed between Wedel, now a town in the Hamburg metropolitan region, and Lühe, a village in the first mile of the Altes Land region.

The Hogendiek Bridge: In 1975, the 42-meter-long and 1.5-meter-wide Hogendiek Bridge was built, modeled after the old Dutch drawbridges typical of the Altes Land region. This pedestrian and bicycle bridge connects Mittelnkirchen with Steinkirchen. It is a fixed wooden bridge. In 2014, the bridge was replaced with a largely identical new structure with a solid foundation. The new construction was financially supported by the European Union.
