The Kommiezendijk. Formerly used by customs officers and smugglers, it now offers us the opportunity to enjoy the unobstructed border region on a smooth road.

Common in the Netherlands, but here it's just one of two in the wider area. So definitely try translating it yourself. It's fun.

A beautiful and challenging route through the forest. A real challenge with a recumbent bike and a dog trailer attached.

From here you can walk into the Bergvenn.

I find what has been created here very impressive. Before, it was just a dark pine forest, now it is a wetland with countless different bird species.

Don't underestimate the ban on bicycles on hiking trails! Ranger are often on the move here and are happy to collect a hefty fine -:)

From this car park, a wonderful hiking trail leads through the Bergvennen & Brecklenkampse Veld nature reserve. It leads to the Bergvennensee, where you can sit at a sturdy wooden table and under a mighty tree and enjoy the idyllic nature in peace.
