Howden is a market and minster town with a well preserved Georgian town centre. It's dominated by the impressive arch of the Minster's ruined chancel and the St Peter's Church.

Barmby Barrage was constructed in 1975 to stop the saline and sediment rich waters of the River Ouse from contaminating the clear and fresh waters of the River Derwent. It's a picturesque spot to stop for a snack in its picnic area.

stopped here for 2nd breakfast. coffee and food are good and the staff friendle highly recommended

Unpaved grass and (very narrow) stone path. Gravel and mountain bikes will be fine, road bikes may struggle in the wet.

Really nice cafe with a big room upstairs that's good for groups. Can highly recommend the breakfasts, especially the smoked salmon and scrambled egg - yum.

Fantastic coffee shop with seating inside and out I decided to take away and sit in the town square just opposite A large variety of coffees and sandwiches

Really nice ice cream shop with lots of flavours and cold drinks. Benches to sit outside.
