Royal Air Force Burn or more simply RAF Burn is a former Royal Air Force satellite station located 5 miles (8 km) south of Selby and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) east of Burn in North Yorkshire, England which opened in 1942 before closing in 1946. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Burn

The River Ouse is 52 miles (84 km) in length and is navigable for its entirety. It's renowned for flooding with waters occasionally rising to more than 18 feet (5 m). Its banks and waters are a haven bird and wildlife, where various seasonal species of bird can be spotted as well as otters, voles and grass snakes.

A former Royal Air Force satellite station that opened in 1942, to close in 1946. Many of the buildings have now been dismantled, but the three runways remain intact and are used by the Burn Gliding Club.

Nice cycle path along the Selby Canal.

It's a bit bumpy-lumpy in places if you're on a road bike with skinny tyres but still nice to ride. Can get a bit muddy when it's wet.

Beautiful spot to stop and have a drink and some food. Although be warned, it is a cash only establishment and does not accept card payments. Fortunately a very nice Dad and Daughter out for a motorbike ride were very kind and paid for a Latte.

Lovely tranquil spot for a little pleasant cuppa, cafe was closed this Monday but we had coffee with us, quite a few folk around so must be popular.
